As Spring is panning out and a bright Summer is panning in, we would love to introduce you to our new marketing intern, Julia Hayes. She is a senior at Butler University studying Marketing and is very excited to start her first ever internship, and we’re pretty excited to add her to the team! Below are a couple of questions we asked Julia about herself and what she is excited about working with Burkhart!
What drew you to advertising/marketing?
I found my love for advertising and marketing during my time volunteering for a non-profit animal sanctuary in Brentwood, TN. The organization was new to the community at the time, and I got involved as a Co-Marketing Coordinator to help spread the word about the organization’s mission, opportunities and needs. This experience helped me recognize the importance of branding and how to best appeal to the public. I most enjoyed the creative side of marketing and advertising and had fun dipping my toes into an ever-changing industry.
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
I would be light purple with sparkles. Purple has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember and the sparkles give the color a bit of originality.
Would you rather win the lottery or work at the perfect job?
I would rather win the lottery so I could use the money to start my own business or organization in an area I am really passionate about. This would ultimately create the perfect job for me and hopefully create opportunities for others as well.
What do you think about when you’re alone in your car?
I usually think about food because that is my typical destination when I am driving somewhere.
What is your most-used emoji?
My most-used emoji is definitely the laughing face.
What is a professional goal that you hope to accomplish in the next five years?
I hope to find a career that I am passionate about and have opportunities to continue to learn and grow within the organization I am a part of. I also hope it provides me a sense of security and allows me to positively contribute to the community in some way.
How would your friends/family describe you?
They would describe me as easy-going and open-minded. I enjoy learning new things, gaining new experiences and am flexible when it comes to last-minute plans and activities.
Is your glass half-full or half-empty?
It depends on the day, but I would say I typically see things as glass half-full. I think that there is always an opportunity to learn and better yourself from any type of situation in life, good or bad.
Do you have a favorite 90’s sitcom? If so, what is it?
Full House is a favorite of mine. It would always play on the TV when I was little and reminds me of my childhood.
Is there anything you wish would come back into fashion?
The 80’s is one of my favorite fashion eras. I wish funky colors and patterns would come back. One of my favorite things in my closet is my neon bomber jacket but it definitely makes a statement.
What are you most excited for during your time with Burkhart?
I am extremely excited to learn more about the inner workings of a business and how to utilize marketing strategies and activities to better improve business success. I have already learned so much within the first few days and am looking forward to gaining more knowledge and tools that I will be able to apply in both my future academic and professional careers.
