Krystina's Internship Experience

It’s hard to believe that my internship program here at Burkhart is coming to an end. Working as the Integrated Marketing and Advertising Intern has taught me so much.

When applying for summer internships, I was really excited to apply to an agency. Once I got the offer, I took it right away. I was nervous to begin knowing that it was my first ever internship opportunity, but now that it’s ending, I am able to reflect on all the knowledge that I have learned here.

My Internship Experience

Before interning here at Burkhart, I didn’t know how a marketing agency operated behind closed doors. Now, I can say I know the ins and outs of how to effectively market and advertise to specific companies and different audiences. I have had the opportunities to sit in meetings, write creative blogs, create social posts and collect/present data based on the engagement on Burkhart socials and their website.

Writing and creativity have always been passions of mine, so being able to write blogs for Burkhart allowed me to express my specific creativity which was different from many other interns. I am not saying that writing blogs was easy all the time, but it definitely pushed me to think outside of the box and think of topics and content that went hand in hand with Burkhart and its clients.

I had never worked with Canva before; I wouldn’t say I’m the most creative when coming up with social posts. But during my time here, I was able to get comfortable with creating new templates. I was never nervous to fail because I knew the people around me would pick me up and give me feedback to help me improve.

After interning at Burkhart for 3 months, I am now able to do things that I thought I would never learn to do. For example, tracking social media and website data each month taught me that there was more to a social post than I thought. Getting the experience of tracking data allowed me to see all types of engagement.

Lessons Learned

As interns come and go here at Burkhart, I always felt a part of the team. Everyone here was very welcoming and supportive from my first to my last day. If I ever needed help, had a question or wanted to try something new, I was always told “absolutely.”

Working in the office with everyone made me feel motivated to give every day my all no matter what the day looked like. I have loved my time here at Burkhart Marketing Partners and have not only gained so much knowledge and skill but also gained role models who I look up to.

I will forever be honored and grateful for #TeamBurkhart as I head into my last year at Butler University. Thank you all!
