I am very grateful for the opportunity that I had this summer working as an intern at Burkhart Marketing. I was nervous in the beginning because I wasn’t sure how I was going to fit in with the team and if I was going to be able to do the work that they asked of me. My experience overall has satisfied all of the things that I was looking for in this internship.

A Welcoming Team

One of the biggest reliefs that I had in my first couple of weeks was that I was embraced by the entire team, and they made me feel like I belonged on the team. I feel that this was a very unique quality that does not happen at all offices. The friendly environment, alongside the people, made me feel extremely comfortable while I was there. This allowed me to relax and be able to focus on the work that I was doing. Also, the comfortable atmosphere allowed me to get to know the people on the team. Having a better relationship with them allowed me to understand them a little better which allowed me not to be intimidated to try new things creatively. They did a nice job of nurturing a creative environment for the interns. 

The Work

The work that I was assigned to do was not very familiar to me, but it allowed me to develop skills that I did not have previously. I was educated on a lot of different software that they used which helped me build a more well-rounded understanding of what it takes to be involved in a digital marketing firm. I now feel that I can take the skills and lessons I have learned in my experience at Burkhart and push myself to take on more responsibility as a digital marketer. 

The Overall Experience at Burkhart Marketing

This overall experience has taught me that I am capable of doing this style of work, and it motivates me to try and get even better at it. Before this internship, I was not sure how my skills would measure up in the real world, and this experience allowed me to see how I would do in that environment. Even though I ran into trouble with certain tasks, there was always someone there to help me along the way and help me consistently grow while answering any questions if I needed it. I am very grateful for all of those who helped me along the way. 

One of the biggest takeaways that I have gained from this experience is the overall professionalism that I practiced while I was at Burkhart. I find it very important to be able to work on ways to communicate with team members to ensure that everybody is on the same page. No matter where I go and work next, I will be able to bring these skills with me and continue to better them. 

I am sad that the internship is over. I wish that it went on a little longer and also wish that we had more projects to work on. But I am grateful for the time that I was given. This experience has pushed me and helped narrow the selection of what I want to do with my degree. I look forward to maintaining the relationships that I have with all of the people at Burkhart.
