Intern Spotlight: Ysabelle Aquino

Next up on our Intern Spotlight series is Ysabelle Aquino. Ysabelle is a Senior at Butler University studying Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Learn more about what brought her into the world of marketing, who inspires her and what she would do if a bird flew into her car while driving.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would spend all my extra time hanging out with my friends.

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

I would be “Burgundy” because the red tone represents strength and passion, but also because it has a slight purple tone, which is my favorite color.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I grew up wanting to work in fashion. Anywhere from being a fashion designer to being an editor for a fashion magazine.

What drew you to/kept you in advertising? (How did you choose it?)

I originally went to school with the intention of studying Pharmacy. After realizing that wasn’t the path I wanted to take, I was drawn to marketing because of its proactive position in the business world. I knew I didn’t want to sit in a cubicle all day, but rather, I wanted to interact with people by starting conversations that sparked new ideas and perspectives.

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?

I would swap places with Kim Kardashian. It’d be nice to indulge and live in luxury for a day.

Who or what inspires you?

My younger brother inspires me. Though he’s younger in age, his intelligence and passion match that of someone who has lived a life longer than my own. He has taken on more responsibility than I had to when I was his age and he manages to always do it with ease and a positive spirit. My brother is one of the hardest workers I know and he inspires me to work hard every day so that I can be a role model that he can be proud of.

What is your most-used emoji? What is your most-used emoji?

My most-used emoji is the laughing emoji because I easily find many things funny and life is better when you’re laughing.

What do you feel prepared you most for life after college?

The process of deciding and switching majors because I realized that you may have a set and concrete plan for yourself, but you never know when that plan may change nor are you prepared for when it does. But if and when it does, it’s nothing to be afraid or worry about. Everything is a learning experience, and if taken as such, you will grow so much more.

What do you think about when you’re alone in your car?

I usually think about everything I have to get done for that day, but I also think about what I would do if I accidentally ran over an animal or if a bird flew into my window.

What is a professional goal that you hope to accomplish in the next five years?

I hope to have gained more work experience in different areas of marketing and to have finished graduate school and obtained my MBA.

What’s your favorite throwback jam?

I can jam to any old Usher or Chris Brown R&B music.

Who is your favorite superhero? Least favorite?

My favorite superhero is Captain America and my least favorite would have to be Aquaman.

What’s your favorite 90’s show?

It would have to be either Martin or The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

What are you reading currently? What is your favorite book?

I’m currently reading an inspirational self-help book titled “You are a Badass”. I don’t really have a favorite book because I don’t read books often, but am always open to suggestions!

Where is your happy place?

Anywhere that my friends are family are.
