Intern Spotlight: Sydney Ziegler

Burkhart Marketing has welcomed two new interns to the team this Spring! First up in our Intern Spotlight Series is Sydney Ziegler. Sydney is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Media Advertising. Keep reading to find out who inspires her and what TV show she’s watched over five times through!

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would take a lot of the time to enjoy the quietness on my side of the world. More than likely I’d be nestled in creating something on paper or digitally, reading a book, or taking pictures of my dog while he sleeps.

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

I would be a lilac purple because it’s classic but unique, and it would bring a change of pace in the color palette.

What drew you to/kept you in advertising? (How did you choose it?)

I love that advertising allows designers to really tune into a brand’s image but also connect to the audience. I’ve always been infatuated with why people think certain ways or how to best connect with them, and advertising design lets me explore all of that more.

Who or what inspires you?

My parents inspire me the most. They’re both very different and taught me so many things along the way. My Dad has always inspired me to work hard, follow whatever hobby interests me, and that we always have more to learn. My mom has always shown me how to be kind and giving to others but also how to stand up for myself. (Side Note: Now I really want to call them, haha!)

What is your most-used emoji?

💞

What is a professional goal that you hope to accomplish in the next five years?

I would love to start a side-gig of doing calligraphy and design for stationery, stickers, prints, and cards! It’s definitely what fills my free time and my Instagram feed.

What’s your favorite throwback jam?

Not ashamed to say it’s Nelly’s song “Grillz”.

What’s your favorite 90’s show?

Friends.” By far. I’ve watched the entire show about five times through in the last three years. Sorry, not sorry.

What are you reading currently? What is your favorite book?

Right now I’m reading “The Botany of Desire.” It explores four plants and their connection to how we’ve developed our societal desires.

Where is your happy place?

My favorite one is to be in a small coffee shop somewhere in the mountains. There was one I visited in Telluride, CO at the back of a bookshop that just made everything in life feel light. On the regular, my happy place is when my dog is nestled up in my lap.
