How to Create an Irresistible Call-to-Action

Simply attracting visitors to your website will not help your business advance. When people come to your page, you want them to take action instead of just having them browse. You may want them to sign up for your email subscription, move them from one content piece to another or even boost sales by making a purchase of a product that you have listed. But how? By having an irresistible Call-to-Action (CTA)!

What?

A CTA is either a text or image (it typically includes a button) that will direct your desired audience to take a particular and instant action.

Here is an example of what newsletter/email subscription CTA could like:

Why?

By having a compelling CTA, your website visitors are more likely to engage and help progress your goals. CTA’s provide your audience with direction, offer functionality and also help build your contact lists.

How?

This all may be new to you, so we’ve provided a few tips on how to create a powerful and effective Call-to-Action:

  • Be Direct With Your Audience:

Stop wasting time with fancy wording or “fluff.” Your customers want to know what you do and what you would like them to do right off the bat. The action you want them to take should be straightforward, brief and powerful.

Use words such as; ‘begin,’ ‘submit’ or ‘click here.’

  • Stand Out from Other Competitors:

In a world filled with many marketers, you most likely know that it is difficult, yet, vital to stand out amongst your competition.

You need to create something that makes your CTA distinctive and desirable.

  • Use Language that Requires an Action

By using words that require an action, you’ll be urging your visitors to act promptly. For instance, “Call now to receive free delivery on your next purchase,” is a great CTA because it is calling upon the viewer to take action. There was a clear direction given by using the verb ‘call.’

  • Use Urgency

You want your CTA to be urgent in order for your visitors to convert. You can do this by transmitting a message that your visitors are going to miss out on an excellent opportunity if they opt to do otherwise.

If your visitors are convinced that they are on a ticking clock and delaying it would result in missing out, then they are more likely to fulfill the desired action.

Use words such as; “ right now” or “immediately.’

  • Make It Easy

It is VERY important that the change from the CTA to carrying out the task is as seamless as possible. If your CTA is complex, then it has a much higher chance of failing. For instance, if you are wanting your visitors to make a phone call, then it is important that you provide them with a phone number.

Keep your CTA process as short as possible. The shorter it is, the more likely it will succeed because most people do not like to spend a lot of time on these processes. There are many benefits to having a great Call-to-Action. Creating one takes time, a well thought out plan and also beckons creativity. Keep it simple, yet make it compelling. Try out different ideas and see what works best for you and your visitors. Get in touch with us now if you need more help with creating your own Call-to-Action.
